We start a project with the understanding that energy and water are precious. We generate designs based on incorporating strategies that minimize excessive use of both. We are aware of and utilize new technologies like energy storage and small high-efficiency electric systems that tie to solar electric and solar hot water to provide space and water heating, but more importantly, we utilize smart, low-tech solutions that consider orientation, prevailing winds and thermal mass, which create buildings that heat and cool naturally. These methods along with incorporating high performing building envelopes (walls, insulation, rain screen assemblies, quality materials) allow us to help clients drastically reduce energy demand.
 We believe we have a responsibility to provide our clients with the very highest level of aesthetic and technical design. We don't design a building and then see how much it costs to heat and cool. Instead, we ask the client how much energy they want to consume and then develop designs to match those goals.
